The final trailer for Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reboot has arrived. Produced by Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes team, this trailer offers our first solid look at the turtles themselves in action, as well as the Shredder and Master Splinter. See for yourself how the turtles fair against their arch nemesis after the break.
Get it? They’re not aliens! These filmmakers are edgy and cool because they can poke fun at themselves for all the fanboy hate when this movie was in its infancy – they were previously rumored to be aliens, completely veering from canon. I’m actually glad to see that the human characters are put on the sidelines while most of the trailer revolves around the turtles. In Bay’s Transformers, most of the focus is on the humans, but it would appear here that the turtles get the majority of the screen time.
I dig the turtle voices and the comedy, but the back of my mind is still telling me it’s Liebesman who did a terrible job with Battle: Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans. And as much as I like the first two remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, and Friday the 13th from Platinum Dunes, it still has that Michael Bay sheen to it that could take itself too seriously.
We have a few months to go before the release of TMNT. Here’s hoping for the best.
